Giving back and making connections with the next wave of Worthington students! That's what members of the Kilbourne Lacrosse team did this week by volunteering at 3 Worthington elementary schools and running lacrosse clinics after school for kids in the 'Care After' program.
The high school team visited, taught and played with students at Worthington Hills, Bluffsview and Brookside this past week. Next week the team is scheduled to run clinics at Granby, Liberty and Slate Hill.
The clinics more than just teach and encourage kids to play lacrosse. They also allow the young kids to connect with fellow Worthington students who have walked in their shoes just a few years prior. And for the high schoolers, it helps teach the value of giving back and leading the way for others.
The clinics are part of Kilbourne Lacrosse's long-standing "Man-Up" community service program. Kilbourne players volunteer in a variety of ways including delivering Meals on Wheels, mentoring, Read Across America and events supporting our military troops.
The lacrosse clinics are fun, active and fast-paced. They include both boys and girls. Worthington has a proud legacy of success in lacrosse for both boys and girls including State Championships and regularly competing among the top teams in the state. We want to do our part to continue that opportunity and tradition for Worthington kids in the future.
As we all know, Worthington is growing very rapidly! If you are a Worthington parent and lacrosse is new to you, or if your child hasn't played before and just want to give it a try, we highly encourage kids to sign up for WYB Lacrosse. Registration for boys and girls is now open until February 15th. It is a fantastic game that is fast, fun and combines many elements of multiple sports into one great game. Here's the link below for WYB registration and feel free to browse Kilbournelacrosse.com for more about lacrosse here in Worthington.
